MALCAH SUSSMAN

Malcah Sussman is a Canadian painter, based in Dieppe, whose work centres on expressive colour, shifting light, and the atmospheric conditions that shape how we see. Originally from Montreal, she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and has a background in the museum field.

Working in oil, she primarily uses a wet‑on‑wet approach that allows for immediacy and gestural movement. Influenced by Post‑Impressionism and Fauvism, she leans into vibrant palettes and simplified forms, while her divided compositions explore themes of transition and the simultaneity of perception and emotion.

Her paintings often hold contrasting moods, colours, or temporal moments within a single frame, creating works that move between representation and abstraction. Her work has been presented in group exhibitions in the Moncton region as well as in select international exhibition and project settings.
