Bright & Brine’s fall 2026 group exhibition is now open for submissions. The theme is “Lost in the Stacks,” an exhibition inspired by the physical book, the act of reading, and the quiet rituals surrounding literature.

This exhibition is not about illustrating specific stories, characters, or existing literary worlds. Instead, artists are invited to explore books as objects, reading as an experience, and language as a source of memory, imagination, comfort, knowledge, escape, and connection.

Work may respond to the texture of paper, handwritten notes, marginalia, libraries, personal reading spaces, typography, bookbinding, storytelling, archives, letters, journals, poetry, folklore, or the private worlds created between reader and page. Submissions may be literal, abstract, conceptual, sculptural, textile-based, photographic, mixed media, or any other medium, as long as there is a clear connection to books, reading, literature, or the written word.

Please note: Works must not use copyrighted characters, book covers, author likenesses, recognizable scenes from existing books, or imagery directly tied to a specific intellectual property. The goal is to celebrate the culture and feeling of books without reproducing someone else’s creative property.

Submission details:
• Submit 1–5 pieces for review
• Deadline: September 18
• Artists notified by September 23
• Exhibition runs: Oct 7 – Oct 31
• Accepted work must be delivered to the gallery on Oct 4th or 5th
• Reduced commission: 20% (artists receive 80% and set their own prices)
• Include your full name in each file name when uploading
